ATO’s Rental Bond Data-Matching Program – Key Updates

The ATO has announced a rental bond data-matching program for the 2024 to 2026 income years. The ATO will collect data bi-annually from State and Territory rental bond regulators, covering:

  • • Landlord & Tenant Information – Names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, unique landlord identifiers, and bank account details.
  • • Managing Agent Details – Business names, addresses, contact names, email addresses, phone numbers, and unique identifiers.
  • • Rental Bond Transaction Data – Property address, lease details (start & end dates), bond amounts, rent payable, payment frequency (weekly, fortnightly, monthly), and rental property specifics.

The ATO estimates data collection on approximately 2.2 million individuals per year, reinforcing its compliance efforts.
